“In my capacity as acting attorney general I determined that it is in the public interest for me to exercise my authority and appoint a special counsel to assume responsibility for the matter. My decision is not a finding that crimes have been committed or that any prosecution is warranted. I have made no such determination. What I have determined is that based upon the unique circumstances, the public interest requires me to place this investigation under the authority of a person who exercises a degree of independence from the normal chain of command.”
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein
Graduating Coast Guard cadets were treated to “..”no politician in history … has been treated worse.” by the bullyboy whiner-in-chief. I was reminded
of Hillary, harassed almost daily from the time her husband took office.
Years of conspiracy theories and countless political congressional investigations, who maintained a stoic dignity…of course she didn’t tweet much. We assume his loyal base remains loyal (and base) even as their
‘apprentice’ makes a joke of the dignity of the office. We anticipate that
the special prosecutor’s legendary propriety will turn up the sordid details,
and unfit sycophants more typical of say, an arrogant real estate baron.

The naming of a Special Counsel by the DOJ was a smart move. The process will work and we will move ahead. The American people have been slumbering but they’re not stupid. Even as Trump believes they are.
Mueller is respected by both political parties and he will do a fine and competent job.
I really think Trump will go one way or another. Sooner rather than later.

I wish I could share your optimism about 2018, but the way things are this coming cycle, the GOP has strong advantages in both chambers for keeping and even gaining in majority. We don’t have honest districting in this country. The GOP is waaay over-represented. There is one glimmer of hope that I can see – the Trump voters, if they see him as being victimized not just by the “mainstream media” and the left in general but also by the Republicans, if they believe the Republicans hurt or abandoned him, they may just stay home come 2018. That’s why the GOP’s been so skittish about dealing with him. They would LOVE a President Pence. He’s their perfect guy. Bunny-eyed True Believer, that one. But the one thing less popular than Trump is the GOP. If they are forced to take Trump down, they may wind up losing the country, and Trump will forever be remembered as The Boob Who Accidentally Saved America.
