We have an old picture of my Dad with Oscar Peterson. He played the piano professional too. Dad would arrange music for Peterson whenever he toured through through Seattle.

Wow! How cool is that!
While jazz piano isn’t my favorite I enjoy sitting back and chilling with jazz piano playing.
Do you play Jerry?

No, neither my sister nor I play, but we do have children and grandchildren that play, but not as a profession. I remember my mother telling me not to become a musician. It can be a lonely life. While my dad was never out of work, he worked early in the morning 5 days a week on the radio, napped in the afternoons and played 6 nights a week until midnight in a restaurant/club while I was growing up.

I decided not to pursue a professional career in music for the exact reason voiced by your mother. I realized the truth of that as well as I knew I’d probably fare better working in business. Good trumpet players are after all a dime a dozen.
