Another Swamp Creature In The Spotlight……

Trump promised to “drain the swamp”, and we assumed he meant drain it of corruption. But of course that was just another of the Trump campaign memes, and like so many others the swamp remains swampy and the family values party has rather mucked it up worse than it has ever been during the modern era.

Not at all suprising really, the party leader, aside from being the nation’s most famous pus*y grabber, is also a liar, a cheat, and generally a man of little to no decency or integrity.

One could say the party is simply following their leader down the path of corruption, indecency, dishonesty, and anti Americanism. But Trump won the election and apparently his winning is embolding other lawmakers to act as if they, like their leader, believe they do o need to act ethically and see themselved as above the law.

Hunter said Tuesday: “This is all going to trial, so you have criminally political prosecutors in this case. . . . This is a personal smear campaign.” He declined to address the allegations of affairs.

In the new filing, prosecutors allege Hunter’s romantic entanglements blossomed as he used campaign money for large expenses — such as a ski trip near Lake Tahoe — and small ones, such as Uber rides to and from the women’s homes.

Hunter and his wife, Margaret, were charged last year with using more than $250,000 in campaign funds to pay for family vacations, theater tickets and other personal expenses. Prosecutors say he used his campaign account as his “personal piggy bank” to live well beyond his means.

Hunter was one of the first lawmakers to endorse Donald Trump’s run for office. Prosecutors have sought to preclude the congressman’s defense from alleging political bias at his trial.

Hunter’s wife, meanwhile, pleaded guilty in the case this month and agreed to “tell everything,” according to a copy of her agreement with prosecutors. Prosecutors revealed in another court filing they have texts between Margaret and her husband, who have three children, in which they discussed using campaign funds on personal expenses.

new age……

how new the world is
trying to find
nerve in an old rind

the bread is crumbled
for birds to swallow
rolled into droppings
flowers from the hair
of noseless statues
tyrants of parks
where men have cowered
too long and mistaken
unmanned by he dark

when we awaken
(how have we fallen)
machines are broken
wires lie strangled
by the messages they nursed
lathes are swinging
from trees in derision
pipes burst and scalded
houses contorted
(what went on in such rooms
that stare from their windows)
cars tap the kerb
their eyes put out
by the order of fingers
that have jabbed
through the skin of the earth
infected with visions

there is ink in us
swirling (if we spill it
we bloom) – no writing
erupting from the cave
where the guilt-laden
beast has his parchment
will do for our murders

we must stab with a
brash shape of pen
no quill but a sting-ray

marshes are the womb
of the poor – the flowers
that creep out of doors
will be crowned by and by
will unite with the worm
who (crawling for light
in the last breath of time)
mangles itself in the cogs
of the cyclops
who crashes to death
unable to function
hence the sun is revealed

parasites begin the digestion
in the harsh shack of winter
corn is conspired
the marsh bares its breast
to a medal
a gold
leaf is born – there is
hatred and hunger
a cry
from the rushes
proclaims a long journey
whose sundown will
see us in safety – whose home
be our grave
where we scratch
there is blood on the rockface

that we murder ourselves
is no setback – we arise
from the tomb unprovided
what-is-known is our crutches
let the light kick them from us
the sun eats us up and renews us

inside me am i turning to stone
the drill niggles downwards
there may be oil in my bone
though the flesh is all gone
only in the dark was it dumb

if we squeeze our darkness
through a doorway
what new voice might come

how old the world is
trying to put
grey on a green shoot

how thick the answers
when questions find
nerve in a new mind

The Orange Haired Wonder……

We might launch a military strike against Iran. Unless they come to the negotiating table and give up any designs on becomimg a nuclear power. Of course if Iran continues to thumb their nose at Trump and the Orange Haired Wonder decides to launch a military strike it will be obliteration for the Iranian state and its people. So sayeth the Orange Haired Wonder.

A we are all aware it was the Orange Haired Wonder that withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal negotiated by President Obama. Iran was in total compliance with the deal. A deal that while not perfect gave the west, and the rest of the world, a measure of security that Iran would develop a nuclear weapon system. It should be noted that Iran was observing the terms of the agreement until very recently.

The Orange Haired Wonder’s trashing the deal Obama painstakingly negotiated and the crushing economic sanctions slapped on Iran is the reason Iran is acting as it is. In light of the Orange Haired Wonder’s track record with Iran it is perfectly reasonable for the Iranian government and its people to have no trust or respect for the man who calls himself president. In fact if I were an Iranian leader I too would thumb my nose at the Orange Haired Wonder.

The following excerpt is from Politico.

President Donald Trump warned the United States may launch a devastating military attack on Iran unless it comes to the negotiating table and drops its bid to develop nuclear weapons.

“I’m not looking for war, and if there is, it’ll be obliteration like you’ve never seen before. But I’m not looking to do that. But you can’t have a nuclear weapon. You want to talk? Good. Otherwise you can have a bad economy for the next three years,” Trump said during an interview with NBC’s “Meet The Press” airing Sunday.

Trump said the U.S. had a “modest but pretty, pretty heavy attack schedule,” but planes were not in the air when he called off the attack.

“They cannot have a nuclear weapon,” he said. “They cannot have a nuclear weapon. They’d use it. And they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon.”

Trump also disputed that he sent a message to Iranian leaders through a third country, saying he did not want conflict, dubbing it “fake news.”

However, he also declined to send a message during the interview to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“Wouldn’t be much different than that message,” Trump said.

We must reiterate that the “international inspectors have repeatedly declared that Iran has complied with the 2015 deal”.

President Obama, a Bigger Deporter of Immigrants Than Trump……

Thinking about immigration, specifically illegal immigration here’s some interesting data.

Following is a partial reproduction of an Axios article.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has deported more immigrants this fiscal year than any full fiscal year of Donald Trump’s presidency, but it has yet to reach Barack Obama’s early deportation levels, according to new internal Department of Homeland Security figures obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: With four months left in the fiscal year, it puts Trump’s deportations in perspective and shows the reality behind the anti-immigrant pledges that have come to define his presidency.

By the numbers: Under the Obama administration, total ICE deportations were above 385,000 each year in fiscal years 2009-2011, and hit a high of 409,849 in fiscal 2012. The numbers dropped to below 250,000 in fiscal years 2015 and 2016.

  • Under Trump, ICE deportations fell to 226,119 in fiscal 2017, then ticked up to over 250,000 in fiscal 2018 and hit a Trump administration high of 282,242 this fiscal year (as of June).
  • ICE and DHS didn’t respond to a request for comment.

State of play: Trump kicked off his 2020 campaign with a familiar pledge to deport millions of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S., and announced that ICE will begin a series of raids across the country next week.

  • Yes, but: Such a pledge is ambitious given the current pressures on the agency and its limited resources. As the AP points out, ICE is “already overwhelmed, lacking staff, funding and detention space for its current work. And any massive roundup that includes deportation of families would be sure to spark outrage.”
