Trump Wins Another Victory In His Fight Against Truth…

Shepard Smith has left the Fox News building, but his hour will remain staffed by employees from the network’ news division.

Bret Baier, Chris Wallace, Brit Hume, Shannon Bream, Martha MacCallum, Bill Hemmer and John Roberts are among the Fox News Channel news anchors who will do a stint in the 3 p.m. hour vacated late last week by Shepard Smith, the veteran anchor whose departure stunned Fox News staffers as well as many media observers. Fox News executives will likely unveil a new, news-focused hour in the timeslot next year with a specific anchor, Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of Fox News Media, told Variety in an interview. Trace Gallagher, a Los Angeles-based correspondent, will kick off a stint at 3 p.m. today, he said.

“This is going to remain a solid news hour, with our best news stars,” Wallace said, adding: “Journalism is a huge part of the mandate here.”

Wallace praised the network’s news-side staff as Smith’s surprise departure, announced Friday, has prompted a heightened buzz of social-media speculation about the place of traditional newsgathering at the Fox Corp. outlet, which attracts one of TV’s most dependable audiences for opinion-based programs such as “Hannity” and “Fox & Friends.” Viewers and critics have noticed a recent tug-of-war between the journalists who fill most of the daytime schedule at Fox News and the opinion hosts who typically hold sway in primetime. Smith had in recent weeks feuded on air with primetime host Tucker Carlson. He said in an on-air grace note delivered at the end of his final program Friday that he had come to the decision on his own.

“It was a tough day for a lot of people here,” acknowledged Wallace, who spent time as Smith’s producer. “The thing about this place, there is a camaraderie, a ‘us against the world’ mentality,” he added. “These are more like familial bonds as opposed to just passing, transactional relationships. That’s why it hit so hard with a lot of people.”

It remains to be seen what will transpire over the days, weeks, and months following Shep’s departure from Fox (Trump) news. Certainly it is hoped that Fox maintains some factual reporting as opposed to pro Trump opinion and spin 24/7.

The fact Attorney General Burp, er Barr, met with Murdock the day before Shepard’s departure is revealing. Everyone knows Trump was no Shepard Smith fan as Shep relayed the news and truth. Both things Trump despises whenever the news and the truth place him in an unflattering light. Which for the honest informed observer is the lion’s share of the time.

Shep Smith To Leave Fox Network…

Shepard Smith, the network’s managing editor and 3 p.m. host, abruptly leaves his post amid increasing pressure from the administration.

As President Donald Trump escalates his war of words with Fox News, one of his favorite targets at the network – managing editor for breaking news and 3 p.m. anchor Shepard Smith – announced he is leaving the network after 23 years.

Smith said at the end of Friday’s show that he recently asked Fox News to let him leave and the obliged, a shocking departure which followed a barrage of Trump tweets in recent weeks and months, some of which attacked Smith personally. It also followed a private meeting on Wednesday between Attorney General William Barr and Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox News’ parent company.

Smith recalled how he has been with Fox News since its inception, traveled the world, and “witnessed and reported on the events that shaped our reality.” In what could be seen as a veiled reference to Trump’s attacks, Smith said he aimed to “speak truth to power, without fear or favor, in context and with perspective.”

“Even in our currently polarized nation,” Smith said, “it’s my hope that the facts will win the day, that the truth will always matter, that journalism and journalists will thrive.”

Smith’s 3 p.m. show — which is part of Fox’s daily news coverage, not its evening opinion line-up — scrutinized and fact-checked Trump in a way that often contrasted sharply with the reflexive defense of the president by the opinion hosts and their guests.

On Thursday morning, Trump took aim at Smith and a few others at Fox News in claiming the network “doesn’t deliver for US anymore.” That night, at a rally in Minneapolis, Trump praised more than a half-dozen supportive Fox News and Fox Business hosts, such as Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Lou Dobbs.

The network’s efforts to cover the House impeachment inquiry and other fallout from Trump urging Ukraine to investigate his Democratic rival Joe Biden has exposed divisions inside Fox News – and, at times, on-air. Smith and Carlson recently traded jabs after a guest on the latter’s called senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano a “fool” in response to his view that Trump committed a crime.

Shepard Smith was one of the very rare newscasters/anchors at Fox that actually cared about the accuracy and integrity of news reporting. Fox has lost an honest and exceptional newscaster/anchor. Regardless f what DJT might say about him.

Shep will be missed at Fox  and the network just went south several miles starting tomorrow.

Whatever network picks Shep up will be a better network the day he starts working for them.

Beware of DJT Supporters Hawking Good Intentions…

We knew it was coming. Or at lest we should have known. All indications have been there since Trump was inaugurated on that fateful day in January 2017.

President Trump’s political allies are hoping to raise at least $2 million ahead of the 2020 election to investigate members of major media outlets including The New York Times and The Washington Post, according to an Axios report.

The news outlet reports that officials told them the group will target reporters and editors and will leak “damaging information” about them to “friendly media outlets,” including Breitbart.

Among the group’s “primary targets” are CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, BuzzFeed, HuffPost…

This is not at all about identifying sources of inaccurate reporting. If that were the purpose these supporters of DJT would be spending fortunes investigating the myriad lies and gross misinformation DJT spews on a daily basis every single day of the week.

What this is about is his supporters “investigating” legitimate honest journalists that in the course of doing their jobs report the TRUTH about DJT, his policies and his rhetoric. The good, the bad, AND, the ugly. As well as his character flaws. And everyone who is not a DJT cultist knows he has MANY.

This is not to say journalistic bias doesn’t exist. It does. However, the majority of journalists work diligently to combat their biases when reporting. They understand their purpose is to research, question, research some more if necessary, and then report facts. Does this always happen? No, but it is the norm rather than the exception.

Opinion columnists and media talking heads like Hannity or Matthews are recognized primarily as purveyors of their opinions. Opinions can be grounded in facts or they can be just starry eyed opinion with little to no facts supporting the opinion. It has always been this way and it likely will continue to be that way. Unless, and I say this with a growing fear it is happening as I type, the government gains control over our heretofore free and independent media.

That folks is precisely what DJT’s supporters, as well as the president himself are desirous of happening.
